Both motorists and cyclist share responsibility on Sydney roads. Currently, however, there is a strong and clear divide between the two communities which has resulted in many motorists viewing cyclists and a ‘nuisance’ or ‘problem’ on our roads.
Despite this, both groups have the same level of accountability for safety on the roads. Motorists can see themselves as perhaps ‘owners’ of our roads as they make up the majority of users of the road, which creates a further divide and tension among road users.
Safety on Sydney roads is for everyone, and cohesion on our roads is vital for both riders and drivers to remain safe.
